Innovative Learning in Action: PPHS Students Reflect on Cambiar Entrepreneurs' Visit to PPHS

Entering with Curiosity, Leaving with Inspiration

By Hannah Clark and Olivia Curtis, Students at PPHS Broad Ripple

Many high school students do not get the opportunity to engage with innovative entrepreneurs, but we do at PPHS Broad Ripple. That’s exactly what happened when we had the chance to engage with Marie Garcia Melli of Run the Future during a recent learning experience facilitated in partnership with Cambiar Education. The experience was different from anything I’d imagined, and it offered some surprising takeaways.

We entered the session with no particular expectations but left with fresh insights on confidence and the entrepreneurial journey. Our guest was confident and did a great job sharing her story, which helped us feel comfortable asking questions about her experiences. For many of us, it was a rare opportunity to talk openly with someone who built something from the ground up, and it was inspiring to hear about challenges and successes directly from her.

We both enjoyed the interactive sessions and appreciated how our classmates received the guests. Although our overall participation increased during the session discussions, we wish we could’ve engaged in more activities to test and experience their products.

Marie Garcia Melli takes notes as PPHS students provide valuable feedback on their learning experience.

Other than that, we agree that the experience was overall very good. The entrepreneurs who presented were outstanding public speakers, especially Marie. You could feel their positive energy coming from her. She was very interactive with us and did her best to make sure everyone understood the website and what it was about.

Still, the Cambiar visit was a valuable experience. Speaking with an entrepreneur firsthand gave us a glimpse into a world we don’t always see in the classroom, and it left many of us curious to learn more. I’m looking forward to more opportunities like this, where we can connect with people who have taken unique paths in life—and maybe even gain a few ideas for our journeys.
