Acceptable Use and DeVICE AGREEMENT Policy

PPHS 2024-2025 Agreement

This acceptable use and Device Agreement policy is intended to support the mission and vision of Purdue Polytechnic High School and the learning of its staff and students.  In order to reinvent high school, PPHS students and staff shift from traditional teaching models to one that embraces communication, collaboration, and innovation with the infusion of technology. To this end, PPHS provides devices and tools that access the internet as an integral part of its instructional program. This policy is not intended to cover every possible prohibited activity; rather, it establishes procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe and productive digital environment for the users at PPHS. PPHS is a 1:1 school and students are to take their devices home each night.

Purdue Polytechnic High School makes no warranties of any kind for the internet access it provides.  PPHS is not responsible for any damages users experience, including but not limited to, loss of data resulting from interruption of services.

Students & Staff agree to...

  • Use technology and their account in a manner that is consistent with the academic goals and mission of PPHS.
  • Follow the guidelines of the student/staff handbook and school expectations concerning conduct and communication when using school-issued technology and accounts.
  • Keep login information private by not sharing account information with others and agree to not access other people’s accounts.
  • Operate as a safe respectful digital citizen and report users not abiding by this agreement.
  • Accept that PPHS has the right to full access to all files and folders including GSuite applications (Gmail, Drive, etc) housed on the domain.
  • Never use technology to bully, harass, or threaten others.
  • Not use others’ work as your own without proper citation (plagiarism) and follow all copyright laws.
  • Be a good steward of PPHS technology and treat all resources with care and report any damage using the appropriate protocol. Damage caused by negligent behavior is the financial responsibility of the family.
  • All school-issued devices are the property of PPHS.
  • Devices are not managed by PPHS outside of our network. Establishing usage content and times is the responsibility of the user and their families.
  • Come to school/work prepared with a fully charged device everyday.
  • Chromebooks are assigned to staff and students. You are responsible for the Chromebook assigned to you. Do not share or loan your Chromebook.
  • Use only school-assigned chargers with school-assigned machines.

Machine Damage and Repair:
Damage caused intentionally, through negligent behavior, or in violation of this AUP and Device Agreement will be the financial responsibility of the family or staff member. See below for a table of charges:

  • Broken Screen- $80
  • Damage to the machine or other hardware issues- $100 up to full replacement cost of the machine
  • Lost or damaged charger- $50

We use G Suite for Education and provide and manage a G Suite for Education account for your child. G Suite for Education is a set of education productivity tools from Google including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Classroom, and more used by tens of millions of students and teachers around the world. Students will use their G Suite accounts to complete assignments, communicate with their teachers, and learn 21st-century digital citizenship skills. There may be times where additional services beyond GSuite core apps will be used to enhance the learning experience for the students. If you do not wish for your student to use the additional Google Services, please contact the school.

BYOD (bring your own device):
PPHS provides each student and staff member with a Chromebook and additional technology to meet their needs.  Therefore, we do not recommend that students or staff bring their own computer or laptop. Devices brought from home are not the responsibility of PPHS and are not supported by the technology department and its staff.
