With back to school night right around the corner and COVID-19 continuing to spread in the Indianapolis community, PPHS knows we need to take precautions to ensure everyone’s safety, while still welcoming our families to the school and distributing technology. The teaching team at PPHS has never met a problem they couldn’t solve - so they got to work!
Our PPHS Pandemic Planning Committee has worked diligently to create a comprehensive, data-driven plan with updated policies and procedures in regards to COVID-19 and school operations. This plan does not replace or contradict the previous communications released but does provide additional clarification, resources, and details.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Purdue Polytechnic High School in Indianapolis has found a new, permanent home for teaching and learning.
The new location for the school, the P.R. Mallory building on East Washington Street in Indianapolis, has a rich history, once home to the Indianapolis Indians baseball team, Wonderland Amusement Park and a battery factory location for P.R. Mallory and Co. Inc. Most recently, there have been no occupants, with the building remaining vacant for almost 30 years.

When Indianapolis schools closed due to the coronavirus, Gregg Nowling’s engineering and design students were in the middle of building projects using foam core, hot glue guns, and X-Acto knives.
With only a few days notice, Nowling had to find a way to teach some of the same concepts remotely to his students at the downtown campus of Purdue Polytechnic High School, a charter school with a focus on project-based learning and backing from the well-funded school reform group XQ.
